Cancellation, Withdrawal, & Refund Policy
The Sonanta School of Guitar has a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours will be forfeited and no refund will be issued for the missed lesson. Exceptions will be made for emergencies. Excused lessons that are not made up within 30 days will be forfeited and may not be refunded. Students who withdraw will be refunded for any lessons not attended so long as the withdrawal occurs more than 24 hours prior to any lesson.
Sonanta instructors are active performers and may have to cancel a lesson in order to perform. Students are usually given at least 48 hours notice if a teacher needs to cancel, but, on rare occasion a cancellation may occur within 24-hours. If your teacher cancels your lesson you may reschedule that lesson at your earliest convenience.
The Sonanta School of Guitar and its teachers teach effective practice & performance strategies so that students can improve quickly and correctly. Recommended practice times vary per student (e.g., 30 minutes/day to 3 hours/day for 3-6 days/wk) but the most important element for improvement is consistency in practice (i.e., 3-6 days/wk, every week). Improvement will not happen if you only practice once or twice a week randomly. Guitar is a challenging instrument that requires patience, consistent practice, precision, relaxation, problem solving, a strategic practice approach and a lot of concentration. With consistent practice, significant progress in the guitar tends to occur in 3-4 week increments. Improvement will not occur if you are in a hurry to improve and over-practice or practice with tension. Rushing, over-practicing and practicing with tension will very likely cause severe injury and slow down progress significantly (see below). The Sonanta School of Guitar cannot guarantee positive results if proper practice strategies are not followed.
The Sonanta School of Guitar and its teachers stress practice & performance strategies that prioritize injury prevention. We cannot stress enough how important it is to play with patience, take frequent breaks, and play with as much relaxation as possible in your hands, fingers, arms, wrists, body, etc.. We stress maintaining the most natural postures possible while practicing and performing, taking frequent breaks, and NOT over-practicing. Pushing your body far beyond its natural limits almost always guarantees serious injuries and/or diminishing returns. It is of utmost importance that each student listen to his or her body for signs of stress, pain, and/or fatigue when playing/practicing and to stop playing and take a break immediately at any of these signs even if the recommended or desired practice time has not been reached. It is the student's responsibility to listen to his or her own body and to follow the Sonanta teacher's instruction regarding injury prevention and relaxation strategies. Neither the Sonanta School of Guitar nor its teachers shall be held responsible for any student's repetitive stress or guitar related injuries.
All Sonanta teachers are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and teach out of their private home studios. Students who prefer in-person lessons with a Sonanta teacher must wear masks and/or provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination at the teacher's discretion.
