Achieve Your Goals Faster!
Most of us have tried achieving our goals by writing them down and then trying to follow them, but....that doesn't always work as planned. Life gets in the way and our goals are put off.
Dr. Noa Kageyama of Bulletproof Musician recently put out his own blog post on the "WOOP" goal setting strategy (developed by research psychologists Gabriele Oettingen and Petter Gollwitzer) which, for decades, has been shown to have significant positive results in achieving goals. Here's what you do:
Wish: Come up with a meaningful goal and write it down.
Outcome: Visualize that future when you've achieved your goal and write it down.
Obstacle: Also visualize any obstacles that may get in the way and write them down.
Plan: Create and if/then plan for overcoming the obstacles and...write them down.
From personal experience I can tell you that this absolutely works. Write it down and look at your WOOP plan every day, twice a day (i.e., when you get up and before you go to bed). This will hold you accountable for your plan.
NOTE: The plan is adjustable. For example, you may run into more obstacles than you thought. Just add them to the plan and adjust your contingency plan for overcoming them.
